QMC AT THE SHOWS – 2008!

Having mounted a QMC display stand at various car shows around the Midlands for the last two years, it was clear that a good number of members enjoyed the events, whether they were showing off their cars, manning the stand and chatting to the general public about cars in general and QMC in particular, or having the chance to combine one of these with having a look around the shows and generally having a pleasant day out surrounded by beautiful cars!

The Committee has therefore approved plans for a programme of shows that we will be attending in 2008 and I’m now looking to draw up lists of members who would like to display their cars or help man the QMC stand for part of the day – or both!  Free entry to the shows will be available to members who volunteer, together with a specially printed personalised polo shirt (clearly a collector’s item of the future!).

·                Sunday, 11th May – 29th Sandwell Historic Vehicle Show.  A great show in the heart of our Club area that attracts over 50,000 visitors each year – and this year they’ve promised it won’t rain!

·                Sunday 3rd August – Walsall Classic Car & Transport Show.  The new date in August means this could be a new possibility for QMC.  Over 400 exhibits last year, plus club stands, autojumble, children’s rides, etc in the Arboretum Extension.

·                Sunday, 7th September – Dudley Classic Car & Transport Show at Himley Hall, near Dudley.  This show was much enjoyed by members in 2006, when there were over 900 exhibits and a large autojumble in delightful parkland.

·                Friday 14th to Sunday 16th November – The Classic Motor Show at the NEC.  After our success at this show over the last two years, an even bigger stand is booked for 2008!

The Committee is also considering mounting a club display at:

The Rallyshow at Chatsworth on 7th – 8th June.  This event has quickly established itself as one of THE events for rally fans in the year, with additional opportunities for long sessions of driving time on the stages, mini-events for many classes (both these at extra cost) as well as the usual chance to display your rally car and take part in the Grand Parade.  All this and the chance to see the stars and their cars!  More information: www.therallyshow.org  QMC will give a subsidised entry for those showing their cars or manning the stand.  Booking for this event takes place VERY early, so please contact me if you’re interested in taking part in whatever way.

and at

Rallyday at Castle Combe on Saturday 20th September.  Over recent years, this event has just got better and better!  With over 10,000 spectators last year, this event has an awesome display of past and present rally cars – and the drivers to go with them.  Chance also for club members to have a go on the track at racing speed (at a very reasonable extra cost) and to show your rally car on the Quinton stand.  QMC will provide free entry for those showing their cars on the stand or manning it.  Space for club stands goes quickly, so, again, please contact me as soon as possible of you would like to be there.  More information: www.rallyday.com

It would really help with planning if you would get in touch with me by the end of February and let me know how you would like to take part.  Either email me on PeterCFi@aol.com or ring me on my home phone - 01386 49014 or by mobile 07740239333.

We look forward to you joining us!
